We own and daily tend to our herd of over 60 lovely alpacas, and began our adventure of creating these one-of-a-kind scarves out of sheer passion for alpacas and our appreciation of their wonderful and rare fiber. It is our desire to showcase the softness, loft, warmth and versatility of alpaca fiber, while providing our customers with unique, eye-catching accessories they will love wearing year after year.
We shear our alpacas every spring and use only the softest, finest fleeces from our herd, and solely the prime blanket fiber, to ensure that all our scarves are next-to-the-skin soft. Most of these fleeces have won awards in the show ring for their outstanding characteristics, including softness, length and lack of guard hair. We mesh this fiber onto various types of silk fabric; these two media, we believe, are truly a match made in heaven.
It is very important to us to support our community, and every effort is made to embellish our art pieces with fiber products dyed and spun by local artists. We use a nearby family-owned mill to wash and card our fiber and spin some into yarn. We contract with local fiber artists to hand dye our fiber when vibrant colors are needed, and support local family-owned yarn shops as well.
